Characteristics of a Good Church
Human beings are spiritual beings and at one point in their life need a spiritual guidance. This can be obtained from a church or a sanctuary as many people would call it. Every person would want a church they are feeling connected to and where they anticipate spiritual growth. The search for a good church is not easy and some people may find it difficult or take long before settling to a particular church. This is evident where a person moves from one church to another. In the recent past, there has been rise of establishment of churches with various motives. Some pastors may not be genuine in the call of preaching the gospel because they may want to make money out of it. It is critical for a person to understand a church before settling in it. On needs to understand the belief system of a particular church to ensure that it is doctrinally sound. If this is not the case, it is advisable to search further. The Bible has many areas where false teachers are condemned because of misleading people and it is no different in some parts of the world. Below are some elements that can guide a person when looking for a place of fellowship.
The most important thing about any place of fellowship is its reference to the Bible. The only way that God reveals his character to all people in the earth is through the person of Christ his son, and it is only in the bible where we learn about Jesus, the only begotten son of God. A good church should be a bible believing church and its teachings should align with the scriptures. There are so many cultic religious churches that are misleading people. One key element of a cultic church is that it misinterprets the scriptures which ends up misleading people who end up following these lies. One must depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit in order to settle in a good place of fellowship.
Secondly, a good church indicates clearly their reason for existence. Most of the places of fellowship should focus on helping people get closer to God and reaching those that have not yet heard the gospel. One should be keen on knowing what is the vision and mission of a particular church. This will help in making a proper decision of fellowshipping in that church. People should not be ignorant in matters church purpose because of the wickedness that is rampantly happening. Some pastors may start a church with a different mission from that of winning souls for eternity.
Fellowship has many elements and one of them is serving God. It is important to settle for a church where one will be able to serve and participate. Mere attendance makes one a church goer and it may not have much impact on a person. Examples of areas of service includes evangelism, ushering, singing, praying and teaching children just to mention but a few. This also enhances bonding among church members.
